Angela & I attended an Infant CPR and Safety Class over at Swedish Hospital in Ballard on Thursday, and boy what an experience it was. The section of the class regarding CPR was interesting and we learned a lot- very helpful if anything bad were to happen. Ang & I feel prepared to be able to perform it if necessary, and it was a good refresher on CPR, which we've both learned in the past, but it's been awhile.

Then came the really fun stuff: pointing out all the safety hazards and possible death traps that our house and life in general presents to newborn babies. For example, we learned that cribs should only consist of a sheet, and  a baby. No loose blankets, no stuff animals, no padded bumpers, no mobiles hanging over head- nothing. Babies don't even get blankets until they're at least a year old. Crazy. I never knew! All that stuff has the potential to overheat baby, and may cause choking.

That was just the tip of the iceberg. We also learned how to do the car seat, how to swaddle (which I learned in the fathering class), and how to adjust the cats to Finn's arrival. Pretty easy stuff, but we realized that half the crap we'v bought thus far for FInn is actually a hazardous death trap.... at least we kept the reciepts for everything thus far.

Anyway, if you wanna know what else can cause harm to babies, let me know. As for now, we only have a month or so left of 'relaxation' until the party bus comes and Finn arrives. We can't wait!
