I have this picture of Ammon next to my bed.  Actually there are two pictures, though they are so small I count them as one.

The picture on the left was taken of Ammon, when he was close to one years old, and me by one of those photo machines where you deposit fifty cents (well, back then anyway) and the machine takes four or five pictures.  Ammon is wearing his Superman stocking cap.

The picture on the right is of Ammon by himself, taken by me at my college job in personnel.  The picture is the ID type used for ID cards that students and faculty uses.  Ammon is wearing his Wyoming Cowboy "hoodie" given to him by his Aunt Merit.

Both pictures of Ammon have the same expression - one of wonderment.  They are just plain cute.  I have reflected on these pictures with much joy.  The remind me of the days of being a young father and the joys a cute little boy brings.

With the arrival of Finn in the near future my joy becomes two-fold.

1.  For me, I am excited to participate in the life of another cute little boy.  To share with Finn all that cool things that this world has to offer him and the wonderment of discovery.

2.  For Ammon and Angela as they will have the opportunity to have the joy that Finn will bring into their lives.  To snuggle with him and to participate in the observations of his wonders.

Well, I have three, actual joys.  The third will be in the spoiling of Finn and then sending him home to his parents.  I will be there to put on fake tattoos on his arms and teaching him the "pull my finger" joke.  Telling him all the things his Dad did when he was little and, especially, when he was a teenager.  Very cool things like that.  This is my secret joy.
