Okay, we really need to get with this blogging thing! It has been awhile, so let me try to get you caught up with the Gilberts. We had a wonderful holiday season as a family. We kicked off the Christmas season by heading downtown Seattle for the tree lighting. We then celebrated Christmas with Jenn and Steve who were in town for Thanksgiving week.
The following weekend the three of us went out past the 'burbs to hunt for a Christmas tree. There was snow on the ground and it made looking for the perfect tree a lot of fun. As soon as we got home that afternoon, it started snowing here in Seattle. Finn slept most of the day- but we think he had fun!
Once Christmas finally came we had fun sharing old traditions with my family and starting some of our own. We spent Christmas Eve in Bremerton at my parents house. Santa made a surprise visit and brought Finn a teddy bear. When we got home late that night we opened new pjs and read 'The Night Before Christmas'.
Anyone who knows Ammon, knows that he gets SOOO excited at Christmas. What you may not know, is that this excitement means that he can't sleep in past 5am. I lucked out this year- he slept in until 5:15! Finn was only semi-awake, so we hurried to open all his presents before he fell back asleep. It was a fun morning. Then we spent the rest of the day preparing our first Christmas feast! Along with Grandma, we hosted Christmas dinner.
A few days later we headed to the island to spend some time with Grandpa Clark and Sam. It was our first time away from home and it went well. Finn had a good time hanging out with Grandpa Dude. He was rather fond of staring at a Cheeto bag in Grandpas kitchen.
New Years was low-key. We played Mad-Gab, drank sparkling cider, had a three-way call with family from California and Utah and watched the Space Needle fireworks from our front porch. Each year, the Lindgren side of the family makes predictions for what they think will happen in the New Year. Here are a few we made:
Ammon predicts Finn will walk before he turns one
Ammon predicts we will run a half marathon together
Angela predicts we will run a 5K together
We predicted the following Lindgrens will get pregnant- Ryan & Cheyney, Misty & Eric, Rick & Misty, Mike & Andrea, James & Lynette, Jason & Becky and Krista & Josh. Angela predicted she would be pregnant by the end of the year but Ammon disagrees.
Anyway, it's a fun tradition that always makes us laugh when we look back to see what we predicted the previous year! I've posted some pictures of our holidays. I hope everyone's new year is off to a good start!
